All energy usage is seen as hastening the end of the universe, therefore a sparse and conservative culture dominates the mainstream thought. There are breakaway pockets of beings who organize together to create a few artificial stars, radiating heat and light at a massive rate but dwelling out their last days in the glory of the old ages of light. These are generally viewed with disdain and exasperation by most, and by some fanatical factions as an unacceptable threat to the Universe.
